Our approach to diagnosing periodontitis
The treatment at the BLEIBTREU ZAHNÄRZTE is divided into three stages
Schedule your appointment online and book a periodontal consultation!

Stage 1:
Two main goals:
1. Optimizing your oral hygiene at home to combat periodontal disease with the right means for you.
2. A preparatory teeth cleaning before the actual periodontal treatment.
Stage 2:
This is the actual periodontal disease treatment. It takes place on two separate days within a week. One side of the jaw is treated per session. In order to make the treatment painless, the affected teeth are anesthetized beforehand.
Stage 3:
This therapy stage is only necessary if teeth remain inflamed despite treatment. These teeth can be treated microsurgically and with biomaterials.

Periodontitis
What is it?
Periodontitis is a chronic inflammation of the gums and bones around teeth caused by bacteria. Although periodontitis is usually painless, if left untreated over years it causes bone loss in the teeth. This bone loss can progressively wobble or loosen your teeth. Periodontitis usually first occurs in middle adulthood (35-65 years). With around 12 million people affected in Germany, it is a widespread disease.
Periodontitis | the
causes
Periodontitis is caused by bacterial deposits under the gums.
The formation of these deposits is favored by insufficient oral hygiene, an unbalanced diet and smoking.
In addition, genetic factors play an important role.
Periodontitis | the consequences
The causative bacteria cannot be removed with home cleaning such as toothbrushes and mouthwashes because they are located under the gums. Periodontitis is usually a gradual process that slowly leads to bone loss over many years. When the bone loss has reached a critical level, the teeth start to wobble. To prevent this from happening, periodontitis should be detected at an early stage.
Periodontitis | first signs
The signs of periodontal disease are swollen, easily bleeding gums. Other signs include: bad breath, exposed tooth necks and loose teeth, though all these signs could have other causes. For clarification, our team for periodontology in Berlin routinely carries out a short, painless test during a check-up in order to detect possible periodontitis at an early stage.
Periodontitis
treatment?
When treating periodontitis, the causative bacteria are gently removed. This usually requires two sessions with a specially trained dental hygienist. For the long-term success, your cooperation is just as important as the dentist you choose. As part of periodontal treatment, we will train you to take targeted action against periodontal disease at home.

Periodontology in Berlin
What exactly happens during the treatment?
The goal of treating periodontal disease is to get rid of the harmful bacteria that cause bone loss of the tooth. Harmful bacteria are found in plaque that adheres to the tooth under the gums. These deposits can neither be reached with a toothbrush, nor do rinsing solutions get there or have any effect. You can think of it as a persistent bacteria layer. It is the job of the practitioner to remove all harmful plaque under the gums. For this we have special equipment enabling us to gently clean your teeth.
